Darren Gardner: Mid-Season Moment

The date is currently 7th January 2018 as I write this, and Napoli are on their winter break and top of Serie A having taken the crown of “Winter Champions”.
The dream of our first Scudetto since the heady days of Diego Maradona is well and truly on, and there has been quite a few highlights in a fantastic season so far.
For me personally it has to be the incredible winning run we went on at the start of the season, 8 wins from our opening 8 Serie A games, 26 goals scored, just 5 conceded, and more importantly winning games that in the past we arguably would have lost or drawn.
During that great run we went on at the start, the game that was most memorable was for me personally the Derby del Sole against Roma, in which we gritted out a 0-1 win at the Stadio Olimpico.
This match a classic example of a game in the past we maybe wouldn’t have won, and further proof that this season we seem to be much more mentally tough than in previous seasons.

When we return in 2 weeks from the winter break, we go again.

Having supported Napoli since 1996, I’ve seen everything with this club, from relegations with just 2 wins and 14 points to us being made bankrupt, to us rising again under our crazy but wonderful president Aurelio De Laurentiis, but to see us lift the Scudetto in May would be something I can’t explain to you all.
This club mean everything to me, having being the weird kid at school who supported Napoli when everyone else supported Manchester United or Arsenal or Liverpool or even Juventus.
Yes I was bullied for it, but I didn’t care, this club is a part of me, I love this club, I love everything about this club.
Sempre e per sempre, FORZA NAPOLI!!!!!
